I have many years of nursing experience in both the inpatient and outpatient healthcare settings. I have served the profession of nursing at the bedside, in nursing leadership, and in nursing education.

Undergraduate Nursing Student Exposure to Patient Aggression or Violent Behavior- The purpose of the study is to understand the experiences of University of Southern Indiana nursing student exposure to patient aggression or violent behavior. The data will enable faculty to develop strategies to recognize and address the effects of violent patient behavior on nursing students. 

Nurse’s Perception of Providing Patient Education: A Qualitative Study. Qualitative study in collaboration with St. Vincent Evansville regarding registered nurse perception in providing patient education. This study is a collaborative effort between St. Vincent Evansville, The University of Southern Indiana, and the University of Evansville.

 DNP Capstone Project was titled Developing a Heart Failure Plan of Care to Impact Patient Perception of Self-Management Support in a Community Setting. This project partnered with the Southwestern Indiana Regional Council of Aging (SWIRCA) to create a patient centered plan of care for the heart failure population. The project looked specifically at the patient perception of self-management support in a community care transitional program.

Lead Investigator on a research study entitled “Comparison between standard and early entry into cardiac rehabilitation on health outcomes, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (CR) outcomes and health related quality of life in coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) or valve replacement (VR) surgery patients. This study began enrolling subjects in June 2007 and the project was completed in 2009. The result of this study resulted in a practice change at St. Mary’s Medical Center regarding the timeframe when patients are enrolled into cardiac rehabilitation post open heart surgery. Our referral practice decreased this time from 8 weeks to 4 weeks
