Bio

Lisa Beutler-Jones begins her 21st year as an adjunct instructor in the Communications & Media department at the University of Southern Indiana.  She was awarded by the USI Foundation in 2017/2018, Outstanding Teaching by an Adjunct Faculty.  Mrs. Beutler-Jones finds her passion for teaching at USI after many years of applying her talents as a professional singer/dancer, entertaining audiences while traveling the world with the prestigious Royal Viking Cruise Line, as well as American Hawaii Cruise Line.  She holds a Bachelor of Music, Vocal Performance, and Master of Music, Vocal Pedagogy, from the Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana.

Mrs. Beutler-Jones maintained a private voice studio, and performed part-time, while raising her four children, before finding her niche at USI.  After 20 years of teaching at USI she still loves the interaction with her students and helping them achieve the confidence and skills needed for successful public speaking.  She has also taught in the Honor’s program at USI, having created two successful Honors Seminar courses; “Culture of Clothing” and “Food: History, Culture, Connections.”  To be released in 2023, she narrated the USI Communications & Media department’s documentary, “Art for Science’s Sake, Stalking John James Audubon.”

In her spare time, Lisa enjoys gardening and finds relaxation in gourmet cooking.  She and her husband and singing partner of 41 years, Neil, live with their youngest autistic son, who constantly reminds them that despite the challenges we face in life, there is joy to be found in every situation.
